About This Policy

Scrye is an iOS app for understanding and managing screen time. This policy describes what information the app handles and how.

What Scrye Accesses

Scrye uses Apple's DeviceActivity framework to read device usage through the Family Controls permission, which you must explicitly grant before any usage data can be read. All Screen Time processing happens on your device and that data is not transmitted to our servers or any third party.

App settings and preferences (your daily limit, focus sessions, scheduled blocks, streak history, etc.) are stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage methods.

Data Collection

Scrye does not require an account and does not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or contacts.

Scrye uses two Google Firebase services to operate and improve the app:

• Firebase Analytics measures how users interact with the app — which features are used, conversion funnels, retention — using anonymous event data. This includes a device identifier (Firebase Installation ID), iOS version, and event timestamps. It does not include personally identifying information. Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) is not collected.
• Firebase Crashlytics captures crash diagnostics so we can identify and fix problems. This includes the device model, iOS version, stack traces, and recent log context from before the crash. Crash data is sent automatically when the app crashes.
• Problem reports submitted through the in-app "Report a Problem" feature are also sent through Crashlytics. When you submit a report, the note you type is included along with a snapshot of your current app state (such as your streak count, your active daily limit, and your subscription status). This does not include personally identifying information.

Both services are governed by Google's privacy policy.

Your Screen Time data (app usage durations, daily totals, schedules) stays on your device. It is read via Apple's DeviceActivity framework and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

Subscriptions and Payment

Scrye offers auto-renewing subscriptions processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not have access to your payment method, billing address, or any financial information. Apple's privacy policy governs how that information is handled.

Third Parties

Scrye does not share data with third parties other than as described above (Google Firebase for analytics and crash reporting). The app relies on Apple's Screen Time API, which operates within iOS under Apple's privacy policies.

Data Deletion

Scrye does not store your data on remote servers. To delete all of your Scrye data, uninstall the app from your device. This removes local Core Data storage and all shared preferences. Anonymous analytics events previously collected by Firebase remain in Google's systems subject to their retention policies.

Age Requirement

Scrye is intended for users aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Policy Updates

This policy may be updated as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and noted in App Store release notes. Continued use of the app following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
